Q*Bert's Qubes is the 1983 sequel to Q*bert, produced by Mylstar Electronics, the holder of the Q*bert license at the time of it's creation. The game achieved mild success, but due to the influence of the North American Gaming Crash of 1983, the game went relatively unnoticed.
After the success of the original Q*bert, Warren Davis, the creator of Q*bert, pitched the idea of a sequel to Gottlieb, the company who provided assets for the original. In development, the Q*bert license was sold to Mylstar Electronics, who continued development on the new game, originally titled "Q*bert 2" "2*bert", and "Qubes", before settling with the latter adding Q*bert's name to "Qubes".
